Nassim Taleb defines a Black Swan as:
“…a highly improbable event with three principal characteristics: it is unpredictable; it carries a massive impact; and, after the fact, we concoct an explanation that makes it appear less random, and more predictable, than it was.”
Most losses represent smaller swans or even ugly ducklings! Whether you are prepared is another question? Recovery will be dependent on business resilience; how you have planned yes but, more importantly, and the moment of truth, how you will manage your response.
